Willie Ree Brister, Vice President and Director, Deceased, June 2007

Willie Ree Brister served as Vice President and Director for the Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic. He was a native of Jackson, MS and a graduate of Lanier High School and was employed at Jackson State University. Willie is survived by his wife, Betty, and his three children. He was an active member of the Grove Park Duffers. He enjoyed working with children and spending time with his family.



 

Leon Wilson, President and Director

A native of Jackson, MS, Leon Wilson is a graduate of Lanier High School. He received his undergraduate degree in mathematics from Langston University and his masters degree in mathematics from Jackson State University. He attended the University of  Tennessee where he was a part of the National Science Foundation Institute. Leon is married to Virginia and has six children. He is an active member of Central United Methodist Church. His hobbies include golfing, cooking and applying mathematical and geometric principles to the fundamentals of golf. 




Carl Dexter Bass, Sr., Secretary and Director

Carl Dexter Bass, Sr., a native of Jackson, MS, is a graduate of Lanier High School and Jackson State University. He is married to Ranetta Bell Bass and is the father of four, two boys and two girls, and is the grandfather of three. Carl is a member of the Society Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, the Usher Ministry, the Grove Park Duffers Golf Club, the Lanier High School Alumni Association, and the Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic, Inc. His primary interest are fishing, reading and golf. Carl is also currently enjoying being semi-retired.




Willie Liddell, Jr., Treasurer and Director

Willie Liddell, Jr. was born in Jackson, MS and is a graduate of Lanier High School. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After an honorable discharge he attended Jackson State College (University) and received his BS Degree and completed his graduate studies, both in Education/Special Education. Willie was employed with the Postal Service and retired as Manager, Labor Relations, with the MS District. He also owns and operates Automated Data Systems, a tax and bookkeeping business. Willie is a member of Anderson United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Supervisory Committee with the Postal Employees Federal Credit Union,. He is an avid golfer (duffer) at heart.




Hosie Chambers, Director

Hosie Chambers is a lifelong resident of Jackson, MS. He and his wife, Augusta, attend Anderson United Methodist Church. Hosie is a graduate of Lanier High School and attended Jackson State University before being drafted to serve in Vietnam. His interest in golf began at an early age and he spent most of his teenage years caddying for some of Jackson's finest golfers. Hosie is an avid golfer and has been a member of the Nine Iron Golf Club for many years. He presently serves as the tournament director. He enjoys planning and directing more than 100 golfers at their annual Memorial Day Golf Tournament.




Robert L. Fox, Director

Robert L. Fox is a graduate of Sumner Hill in Clinton, MS and attended Jackson State University on a golf scholarship were he finished in the top ten of the SWAC Golf Championship. He retired after twenty-five years of service as a captain with the Jackson Fire Department. He has since been working part time as a caddy on the Nationwide Golf Tour, which has taken him all over the United States and twice to Scotland (British Open and Dunhill Links Championships). Robert has been involved with Junior Golf for many years teaching and working with children ages 7 to 17. He enjoys listening to gospel music, viewing new release movies, watching the Golf and Sports Channel, and playing computer games. One of his favorite things to do is to repair golf clubs. He also is interested in antiques and collectibles.




Aaron Honeysucker, Director

Aaron Honeysucker, a native of Camden, MS, is the father of three children. He is a graduate of Velma Jackson High School, Hinds Junior College, and Jackson State University, majoring in Industrial Management and Hazard Material Management. Aaron retired from U.S. Army and is a small business owner. He is actively involved in several organizations: the Veteran of Foreign Wars, JSU Alumni, Blue Bengal Athletic Association, and is a volunteer in the American Red Cross, the Gateway Rescue Mission and the Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic. Aaron's hobbies are watching football, basketball and golf. He plays golf, cards and tennis and likes traveling and dancing.




William H. Revies

Will Revies is a graduate of  Jackson State University where he received his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Education Administration. Throughout his career Will received numerous awards which included Administrator of the Year, Jackson Public School District, 1999-2000; a Congratulatory Letter for Outstanding Service from President Bill Clinton; and a Lifetime Achievement Award, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame for Golf, JSU and for Football, UJC. Will is a Senior Warden at St. Chritopher's Eiscopal Church and is a member of the Men's Club. He is also a member of several civic organizations which include the Free & Accepted Masons, M.W. STringer Grand Lodge and Pi Lambda Theta, among others. Will is married to Goldia and has three daughters, Mechell, Lisa and Kesha. 


Luther Thompson, Director


Luther Thompson was born in Courtland, Alabama, where he spent his childhood. After graduating from Central High School, he attended Dillard University in New Orleans, LA. He was then drafted into the Army and after an honorable discharge, Luther moved to Jackson, MS where he took up the game of golf. He worked diligently, became an accomplished golfer, and won numerous awards. Luther worked thirty-three years for the City of Jackson, MS and spent thirty-one of those years as a firefighter. He is a faithful member of the Liberal Trinity Church of God in Christ. He still lives in Jackson with his wife and son and is the father of four grown daughters, one of which was awarded a golf scholarship from Jackson State University.



Juanita McAdory Norwood, Director

Juanita McAdory Norwood is a native of Kosciusko, MS, a graduate of Greer High School and Alcorn State University where she majored in Home Economics Education. She is an active member of Cade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves on the Senior Usher Board. She is also a member of the Lady Drivers Golf Club, Inc., Capitol Women Golf Association and Metro-Jackson Alcorn State University Alumni Association. Her hobbies include golfing, gardening, fishing and traveling. She believes in serving others.
